Since April 2018, Guadalajara has been home to a spectacular work by the world-renowned artist Marko Iván Rupnik.
The Church of El Salvador, located in the up-and-coming neighbourhood of Aguas Vivas, houses a treasure of great artistic value: a huge mosaic covering 150 square metres, as well as other iconographic works created by Marko Iván Rupnik and his team at the Aletti Centre in Rome, comprising 30 artists from 14 different countries.
This Slovenian priest, dubbed the 'Michelangelo' of the 21st century and an artist of international renown, has created a work in Guadalajara using tiles made of marble, granite, enamel, gold, terracotta and glass, sourced from various parts of the world. Built in the Neo-Romanesque style, it is a celebration of life, a festival of light and colour, in which the Christian faith is transformed into art, and beauty becomes a path that helps us connect with the transcendent. A truly impressive sight that no visitor should miss.
