The City of Guadalajara’s Municipal Strategic Tourism Plan (PET, Spanish acronym) sets out the guidelines to be followed in the areas of sustainability, digitalisation, and collaboration between public and private institutions and organisations involved in the tourism sector.
The Municipal Strategic Tourism Plan (PET, Spanish acronym) sets out the roadmap for the coming years, leading to the achievement of key milestones such as: the development and enhancement of the destination under the Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) model promoted by SEGITTUR; investment in Tourism Sustainability Plans; and the opening of the Municipal Tourist Office, which features a strong technological and digital focus.
It is divided into four main sections, each of which sets out the specific measures to be taken; it also outlines the necessary financial investment.
- To establish tourism as a key economic activity in the destination, thereby increasing its contribution to the local GDP.
- To enhance the visitor experience of the destination by showcasing its tourist attractions and business offerings.
- Develop a tourism offering that appeals to tourists and day-trippers visiting Guadalajara as a strategy to increase their spending.
- To manage the implementation of the Plan and its actions in an intelligent and consensual manner, as a fundamental prerequisite for ensuring its success.
